Part-time (8-10 hours/week)

Position Responsibilities
• Select prelude, offertory, and postlude for worship in coordination with the Director of Music Ministries and pastors
• Play prelude, offertory, and postlude at weekly Sunday worship services and other seasonal worship services, plus additional music on communion Sundays
• Lead congregational hymn singing
• Accompany Chancel Choir at rehearsals and services
o Services are Sundays at 9:30 a.m., Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve
o Choir Rehearsals are Wednesdays, 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
o Additional accompaniment for small groups and soloists, as needed
• Be sensitive to the style of the service in choosing music, as well as to the appropriate tones and moods of seasonal services of worship (e.g., Lent, Easter, and Christmas)
• As needed, meet and work with pastors and church staff to support the needs of the music programs
• Right of first refusal for performance in weddings, funerals, and other occasions
• Schedule the maintenance of the sanctuary instruments

Professional Qualifications
• Has extensive knowledge of liturgical music for the piano and organ
• Is skilled in playing both piano and organ, in accompanying a choir, and in leading the congregation in hymns. Skill at improvisation, introductions and bridge interludes, transposition, and harmonization appreciated.
• Fully supports the use of liturgical music for the worship of God
• Is skilled in performing music from a variety of periods and styles

Instruments
• The organ is a Martin Ott, tracker pipe organ, Opus 93, 27 ranks, 22 stops, 1352 pipes, constructed in St Louis, MO. The organ was dedicated by the church in 2001.
• Yamaha C5X SH2 silent 6’7″ concert grand piano, purchased in 2021.
• Roland RD2000 keyboard, purchased in 2020.

Reporting Structure
• The Director of Music Ministries is the direct supervisor of the Church Musician. In his absence, reports to the Head of Staff or their designate.
