Epiphany Star-Making Party

Join friends and colleagues from around the Presbytery of Chicago at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, for an Epiphany Star-Making Party!
We’ll be creating the “Star Words” that will be shared both at the January 6 presbytery gathering and in the congregations where you worship or serve—and we need your help to make them!
A big thank-you to Friendship Presbyterian Church for hosting. All supplies will be provided, and you’re welcome to make stars for your church as well as for our presbytery-wide celebration.
Come enjoy some creative time together as we prepare for Epiphany!
Please RSVP so we can plan snacks and supplies! Kids, families, and friends are welcome!
What are star words?
The practice of receiving a Star Word during Epiphany draws from the story of the magi in Matthew’s Gospel, who were guided by a star as they sought Christ. In the same way, Star Words invite us to pay attention to how God might be leading us in the year ahead.
Each person receives a card with a single word—such as hope, generosity, courage, forgiveness, wonder, or patience. You don’t choose the word; it is given to you as a gift of grace. The point is not to predict the future or to pressure yourself into a new resolution. Instead, the word becomes a simple spiritual companion: something to notice, to return to in prayer, to wonder about over time.
Over the course of the year, the Star Word can become a prompt for prayer, a lens for reflection, and a gentle way of noticing God’s presence—sometimes in unexpected places.
