Solidarity Support Fund: Standing with the Vulnerable

The Solidarity Support Fund of Chicago Presbytery provides financial help for people connected to our congregations who are facing urgent legal challenges — especially immigrants, refugees, and individuals targeted because of their race, gender identity, or sexual orientation. Apply here.

To date, this Solidarity Support Fund is supported by a grant from Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and large gifts from multiple congregations. You can contribute to this fund by giving online through the presbytery’s donation portal and selecting “response to current events” or through Venmo (and note “Solidarity” in the notes).

This fund will help cover legal retaining fees and other immediate legal expenses for those in crisis. It will also connect people with trustworthy attorneys and resources who can advocate on their behalf. Priority will go to:

  • Immigrants and refugees from under-resourced communities.
  • People detained because of real or perceived immigration status.
  • Individuals targeted for their gender identity or sexuality.

How the Fund Works

  • The fund is a designated account of the Presbytery of Chicago.
  • Requests will be reviewed and approved quickly by a committee.
  • Funds are distributed by reimbursement with receipts or vouchers to ensure accountability.
  • The fund will be supported by donations from individuals, congregations, and partner organizations.

A Human-Centered Mission

The Solidarity Support Fund embodies our belief that every person is made in the image of God and deserves dignity, protection, and a fair chance to seek justice. Gifts to this fund make that belief real for families and individuals facing fear and uncertainty in our communities.
